Before there was JEM Electronic Media, there was the lone Web site TheJemReport.com.  Conceived, authored, and run by Jeremy “Jem” Matzan, The Jem Report first began as a hobby site, but quickly developed a loyal following of readers. As The Jem Report continued to grow, the number of articles and topics became unmanageable.  In an effort to better categorize TJR's content, two daughter sites were formed: Software in Review and Hardware in Review.  Although all three sites are closely linked and share a similar format, they each have their own character.  Soon after, Jeremy also started Entertainment in Review to bring his unique writing style to the entertainment world.

Due to the ever increasing complexity of running the growing network of Web sites, JEM Electronic Media Inc. was conceived to own and manage the sites and their content.  Carl Haken was brought on board to handle advertising sales and the day-to-day operation of the company so that Jeremy could focus on his duties as the head editor and writer.

Today the JEM Electronic Media network reaches thousands of readers per day, and its content is regularly linked to from Digg, Slashdot, OSNews, Linux Today, NewsForge, Linux.com, and many other technology-oriented sites.
